Pregnancy is amazing… and exhausting… and confusing… sometimes all before breakfast. Your body is doing a thousand invisible things at once, your emotions have a mind of their own, and suddenly words like prenatals, trimester, and leap weeks are part of daily conversation. I handled this by doing what any reasonable person would do: forcing my husband to read the books. All of them. The ones about fetal development, what’s happening week by week, why prenatals matter, which vitamins do what, and why “just Google it” is never the correct answer. It turns out pregnancy is much easier when someone else knows what’s going on too — even if they needed diagrams and highlighting to get there.

Going through pregnancy with a partner can be incredibly grounding (especially when they’ve read the chapter explaining why you cried over a commercial), but it’s also completely possible to do this on your own and do it well. Whether you have someone quizzing themselves on baby brain development or you’re learning everything firsthand, the goal is the same: feeling supported, informed, and a little more comfortable each day.
